Generation to rack: power path N-1

A utility source, an MV loop, one padmount transformer and LV lineup per rack row, CDUs and a chiller and pump yard, drawn as an isometric hall and as a one-line diagram. Play five stories, or switch to free play, build a hall from exported options and click any element to fail it: the branch it feeds goes dark in both views, the IT-loss number appears, the N-1 checks flip and the surviving transformers load up.

Every control snaps to a value the harness was run at; the page reads that cell and never estimates between two. Rack, chiller, pump and CDU sizes are round illustrative placeholders, not equipment data.

Source and MV loop at the top, one padmount transformer and LV lineup per rack row, each lineup feeding its rack row, its CDUs and the chillers and pumps assigned to it. Bars: loading, % of that transformer's nameplate (dashed ticks: the design limit the data states and 100 %).

Rule column: the citation the data file gives for each check. The 80 % design limit is the harness's draft design basis, not a published standard.

How the checks read it

Required values are read from the data file. Tight is the harness's warn (partial capacity), not a failure. Rows tagged demo logic are this demo's own counting over the harness one-line; rows tagged harness are the harness's results.

Precomputed results:every verdict, required value and margin on this page was computed by the real Python harness at export time and is played back from a data file. The page runs no harness logic and holds no standards tables, and it never interpolates between exported values. Not a live API call. Precomputed by the real functions build_generic_hall, build_load_schedule, build_one_line and pick_transformer_kva in datacenter-power-harness (recorded commit da85dad; the file was exported from the working tree on top of it), which is a v0.1 draft, unvalidated, with 27 tests. Every kW, count and rating on this page (racks of 40, 80 or 120 kW, chillers, pumps, CDUs, an 8000 kVA source, a 3000 A LV bus) is a round illustrative placeholder chosen for this demo and is labelled illustrative. The grid cells and the steps tagged harness are the harness's own results. The harness has no per-element failure function, so the fail-one table and every step tagged demo logic come from this demo's own counting over the harness one-line (remove the element, count what is left); the worst single-lineup removal reproduces the harness's own N-1 verdicts. The MV loop ring, the one-to-one transformer, lineup and row mapping and the "no backup source" assumption are demo logic. Cooling equipment is a placeholder and is not scaled to the IT load; CDU redundancy inside a row is not a harness check. No catalog or product data is used anywhere. Domain maturity: starting inventory, not a completed review.Real functions this maps to:build_generic_hall, build_load_schedule, build_one_line, pick_transformer_kva.Not modeled: backup generation or batteries, protection and relay coordination, cable ampacity and fault withstand (circuit-calc-harness territory), a real cooling load model, CDU-level redundancy, transformer re-sizing after an event (nameplates stay as picked), and any real site layout. The drawing is schematic: hall, yard and loop geometry are illustrative.See also:Power path N-1, hands-off walkthrough · Cooling capacity margin · K-of-N availability
